Most Popular Tea Bags Contain Dangerous Amounts of Deadly Pesticides (Try To Avoid This Brands)

Unfortunately, we are living in a world which is full of dangerous chemicals, toxins, and pesticides, which seriously endanger our health and wellbeing.

Pesticides are all around us, from the food we purchase and consume to the school playgrounds, streets, and parks.

In order to reduce or avoid the harmful side-effects of the dangerous chemicals, you should incorporate some lifestyle changes. First of all, you should always buy home-grown and organic foods, and still, wash the bought food items before consumption.

However, apparently, we cannot completely avoid the negative influence of these toxic pesticides.

A recent research discovered increased levels of these harmful chemicals in the most popular brands of tea bags, like Lipton, Twinings, and Tetley.

The CBC News investigated the tea bags produced by the most popular companies worldwide, such as:

  • Lipton (Yellow Label Black Tea and Pure Green Tea)
  • Uncle Lee’s Legends of China (Jasmine Green Tea and Green Tea)
  • Twinings
  • No Name
  • Red Rose
  • Tetley
  • King Cole
  • Signal

The research team examined the pesticide amount in the dry tea leaves in an accredited lab, with the method used by the National Food Inspection Agency.

The findings showed that over half of the examined teas contained pesticide residues in illegally high amounts. Additionally, 8 out of the 10 teas tested also had numerous harmful chemicals, while one brand of tea had even more than 22 different pesticide types.

What’s more, some of the pesticides discovered in the tea bags, such as monocrotophos and endosulfan, are in the process of getting banned in several countries, due to the fact that they are a  threat to the workers that handle it and pollute the environment.

Most of the examined tea brands contained pesticides, but some of them had extremely excessive levels of the dangerous pesticides, a way beyond the legally set limits.

Therefore, you should be extra cautious when choosing the right tea brand. Yet, you need to know that the following tea bags brands should be avoided at any cost, as they are definitely the worst possible alternative:

  • Uncle Lee’s Legends of China (Green Tea). –This tea has been found to contain even more than 20 different types of pesticides. What’s more, it contains endosulfan, which is planned to be banned in numerous countries, as it causes many adverse effects, like tremors, disorders of the nervous system, and even death.
  • No Name. – It involves more than 10 different pesticide types.
  • King Cole.- It is rich in pesticides, including monocrotophos, which is another to-be-banned pesticide, as it causes coma, involuntary defecation, and irregular heartbeats.

The findings f this research surely had reactions, from the customer of the most popular brands, as well as the tea producing companies.

James O’ Young, vice president of Uncle Lee’s Legends of China, which is among the brands that were found to be the highest in pesticides, defended it by saying that all tea brands contain pesticides:

“If you drink tea, regular tea, I don’t care it’s what brand is that, the fact of life, this agricultural product does have pesticides.”

Yet, he probably overlooked the fact that the research found a brand that does not contain pesticides, Red Rose. Therefore, this is another of the defending statements by large corporations with the goal to misguide their customers.

Yet, it is our duty to support the companies which do not produce tea with pesticides and choose their products over these ones. In this way, we can fight against the illegal and immoral policies of big companies and also prevent the severe side-effects caused by their products.
